There are various selection procedures for different post for men and women in the Indian Air force. Normally it consist of a written test of objective type covering the position of English, Mathematics, Science and general knowledge in the preliminary round. In certain cases, a main written examination is conducted in the descriptive form. Those candidates who successfully comes out of the written examination are made to undergo the Physical fitness Test. This test consist short or long run, marathons, hurdle run, long and high jumps etc. those candidates who pass the physical fitness test are called for the Medical examination. It is conducted to check whether the candidate is free from any acute diseases or physical disabilities if any. Only those candidates who successfully passed the medical examination are shortlisted for the All India Merit List.

These selected candidates get the final call letter to join the concerned training centers. Normally the selection procedure takes 6 to 8 months from the date of notification to the date of commencement of the training.

Those candidates who are finally short-listed on the basis of the All India Merit List after the selection procedure undergoes a rigorous training regimen at one of the allotted Air Force training establishments. After the completion of the training, they are commissioned as officers and posted either as a Navigator or a Pilot or a Technical or a Ground Duty officer or system analyst at any of the Air Force Stations. There are much more exciting career opportunities available for you have passed the tenth class or finished schooling (intermediate) or graduation and post graduation.

Most of the leading newspapers and Employment news carry the advertisement related to the Indian Air force recruitment periodically announced by the Union Public Service Commission and Air Force Selection Boards. Therefore do check out the eligibility criteria at the time of applying for the post.
