The National Defence Academy Entrance Examination is held generally in the months of April and September. It is conducted for admission to the courses which begins in the following January and July respectively for the three wings of our defence force that is the Army, Navy and Air Force division of the National Defence Academy. Eligibility Conditions

According to the Union Public Service Commission, all men who are a citizen of Indian,  a subject of our neighboring countries such as Nepal or Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came cross to India before 1st January,1962 with the main purpose  of permanently setting in India  or  a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya ,Uganda the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia,  and Vietnam with the main purpose of permanently setting in India and on those person(subject), the Government of India has issued  a certificate of eligibility. www.govtvacancies. com

An Aspirant, in whose special case a original certificate of eligibility is must, may be admitted to the examination but the appointment  letter will be given only after the proper verification and necessary eligibility certificates has been issued to him/ her by the Government of India.

Age limit

An aspirant should not be below the age of 16 1/2 years and must not be above the age 19 years on the 1st January or 1st of July of the year succeeding the year of conduct of examination and must be unmarried.

Educational Qualifications

1) For the Indian Army Wing of National Defence Academy, the aspirant should possess a 12th Class pass of 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination certificate conducted by a State Education Board or Central board of secondary education or any of the Universities. w w w. 2) For the Indian Naval and Air Force Wings of National Defence Academy and for the special 10+2 (Executive Branch) course at the Naval Academy, the aspirant should possess a 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of a School Education or equivalent with subject such as Physics and Mathematics certificate conducted by a State Education Board or central board of secondary education or any other Universities. Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply.

Selection procedure

Plan of the Examination

The examination comprises:

i)   Written Examination in the subjects specified in the notification.

(ii) Those aspirants who qualify the written examination will undergo the Intelligence, obstacles and Group Tests by Services Selection Board.

(iii) A medical examination by a Service Medical Board.

Examination Subjects:

The subjects of the written examination, the time allowed and the maximum marks allotted to each subject will be as follows:

1. Mathematics for 2 1/2 hours, 300 marks

2. General Ability Test (English, General Knowledge and Science) for 2 1/2 hours, 600 marks

Total = 900

# Note: The question papers in all the subjects will consist of OBJECTIVE-TYPE questions only.

* The objective-type question papers (Test Booklets) will be set in English only.

How to apply

All the leading newspaper and employment news publish the National Defence Academy Entrance Examination notification in the month of March and September. These published formats can be used for applying. The duly filled in application form along with all the relevant document should be attached with the application. All the necessary attachments should be attested by the gazette officer. The applicant should fix the latest passport size photograph at the space given for the same in the application form. The applicant should ensure that the application with attachment reach the concerned office on or before the due or closing date of the notification.

Salary and benefits

The salary to different armed wing will vary in range depending on the service rendered in the armed force of the Government of India. In the initial training period the candidate is given a stipend.

On commissioning the officer gets a good basic pay and moreover, the DA is provided based on Basic and running allowance, decided and notified by Govt. from time to time. Education assistance is provided at the rate of 30% of basic for children to cover the costs of fee, books etc. Medical treatment and the Railway passes are provided for self and family members.

The post retirement benefits are 55% of the basic pay. Staff quarters are provided.  Besides, so many other facilities are provided, i.e. allowance related to outstation stay, accident, overtime etc.
